Lead Generation: Inbound vs. Outbound Marketing

Lead Generation

Inbound vs. Outbound Marketing

Today generating leads is generally accomplished with the following methods:

   • Cold calling
   • Attending or exhibiting at Trade Shows
   • Outsourcing telemarketing
   • print ads
   • opt-in email blasts

These are all outbound marketing initiatives and have slowly lost value for a couple of reasons:.

 1. Considering that the average person is exposed to over 2000 imprints, ads and impressions etc. on a daily basis, the natural tendency is to try to shield yourself as much as possible using tools such as; Caller ID and Spam filtering. A large percentage of all outbound marketing efforts wind up unseen.

 2. Search Engines. Blogs and Social Media sites are a much more cost effective way to find what you need whether it's information or products, rather than exhibiting at a trade show 2500 miles away.

The trick is to "Be found" rather than spending most of your resources reaching out to the public at large with traditional outbound marketing methods. After all, most of the public is trying to block your efforts.

So how do you “Get found” ?
• Leverage the power of your web presence by optimizing your site, or creating micro-sites that are highly optimized to specific search terms. Organically optimized sites will get your business high rankings on Google. Page one is the goal. The idea is to generate leads by making sure the the customer finds you.

• Part of optimizing your web presence is to also use tools like :
 * Social Media sites to advertise for free.
* RSS feeds. RSS feeds on your site are important to rankings.
* Blogs are equally important to rankings.

• Understand that the landscape has changed, that your customers aren't where they used to be anymore. They have all migrated to the web and it's your task to use all the inbound marketing tools you can, to get them to come to you.

This is only part of what you will need to do to get your customers to find you. If you want to know more, please feel free to call us anytime at 888 650 5353 for more information.
